Low Battery Alert

(Controls, Radio VIPs)

This feature provides an input for a vehicular low-battery-alert device.

  • Since VIP (Vehicular Interface Port) Inputs are active-low, the external low-battery-alert device must ground the selected VIP Input to activate the alert, and idle high to deactivate the alert.

  • The external low-battery-alert device monitors the vehicle's battery voltage and when the voltage goes below a set threshold, the device asserts a Radio VIP Input (or a DEK VIP Input) set to "Low Battery Alert". As long as the VIP Input remains asserted (low battery condition) and does not return to the idle state (good battery) before a 15 second internal timer expires, the radio's display then shows a temporary "low battery" alert and periodically sounds the Low Battery Standby Chirp until the VIP Input returns to the idle state when the battery voltage achieves normal levels. See also Low Battery Tx Chirp.
